The loud ringing sound that filled the busy street became muffled once the two men got inside their car and the driver took off. The driver and one of the men in the back laughed talked to each other with excited vigor, while Charlie, the third man stayed silent. They had worked so hard to come up with a way to help their parents keep their house and to get dad the medicine he needed. Against all odds, they found a way and could not help but to celebrate early. Charlie continued to sit there quietly during the drive, a little more relieved with their situation, but he could feel the blood trickling down his shirt, then pants, and in-between the door and seat cushion. He didn't want to worry everyone at the moment, at least not until the money they just stole was where it needed to be. The pain of the bullet was intensifying, but Charlie played it cool. He was happy he was able to hold and kiss his wife and daughter this morning just in case this situation occurred. He stared at his brother beside him and smiled, knowing that Brett would take good care of both of their families after today. Charlie discreetly pulled his hand away from the wound to see blood everywhere. He quickly covered it back up to keep it hidden. The loss of blood began to take its toll as Charlie began to fade. He could feel a strong wave of weakness take over, slowly lulling him towards a deep sleep. He looked outside the window to see the old neighborhood: kids playing in the streets, a bunch of lawns being mowed. Charlie even caught a glimpse of the only gay couple, hand in hand, walking towards the small park with their son and dog. He knew he wasn't going to make it to the house, but still relieved they pulled off the perfect heist. Almost perfect. Before they pulled the car into the driveway, Charlie had passed on. From the lawn, he still watched as the car pulled into the garage. They had not noticed yet, but it was only a matter of seconds. He stood there debating on whether to go inside to see what happened next, but decided against it and turned to walk down the sidewalk towards what lie ahead.
